Our Story: Starting Locally, Growing Globally

Cait, Jack, and Paul are childhood friends who grew up in Hong Kong, in love with the city's natural beauty, but also aware of the impact of pollution on daily life.

In 2017, they decided to make a difference. They founded Solerìco as a nonprofit focused on protecting the environment and helping those most affected by climate change and pollution.

Their journey begins in Asia, where many communities are still reliant on fossil fuels or have limited access to electricity. Those communities are often those least responsible for climate change, but also those most affected by its effects.

Founded in HK, Solerìco is undoubtedly influenced by its culture and language. The logo originates from the pinyin Chinese character 'rì', which means sun. It also looks a bit like a solar panel - so it was meant to be!

A Global Team

Solerico operates as a global team of volunteers, from members of our Board who might be based in Singapore, to our CEOs based in Hong Kong, to our Branding & Marketing team based in the UK.

Our Co-Founders

Jack Wagner

Deputy CEO

Jack obtained his BA in politics from New York University and began his career in London. After moving back to Hong Kong he co-founded Solerico in 2017. Professionally, Jack works for a global investigations and business intelligence firm, and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. In his spare time, Jack is an avid traveller, hopeless jiu-jitsu practitioner, and an agonising Chelsea supporter.

Paul Grelon

UK Coordinator

Paul earned a double-major in Political Science and Philosophy from McGill University in Canada. In 2017, he co-founded Solerico and is now a trainee solicitor at an international law firm in London. As an active member of the UK's Environmental Lawyers' Association, he hopes to practise environmental law in the future. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing basketball and tennis, and attempting to master the Chinese game of Go.
