2017 - 2020 Highlights

Since Solerico began in 2017, we have taken significant steps both in developing our projects and managing our charity. We are thrilled to share these with you!

We've installed 18 solar water pumps in Nepal

This initiative significantly improves the lives of the farmers and their families on the ground through our innovative grant-microfinance model.

We raised more than HKD 100,000

Organised our first ever fundraising event in Hong Kong in July 2018, where we raised more than HKD 100,000 for our Nepal Clean Irrigation Initiative.

We secured additional funding

Secured funding for an additional 40 solar-powered pumps from a private foundation to be deployed over the 2021-2022 period.

Himalayan Plastics

Launched the Himalayan Plastics Project in March 2019, through which we have provided almost 40 plastic water bottle crushers to collectors in the Langtang Valley.

On the ground

Our Hong Kong-based executives and project managers have visited our projects multiple times to ensure effective roll-out.

Beach Clean Ups

Held several fundraising beach clean-ups in Hong Kong, raising thousands of HKD in support of our Himalayan Plastics Project.

We expanded our team

Between 2019-2020, we expanded our board of directors, advisory board and volunteer team, recruiting new team members from Asia, Europe and the US.

Vinash Gopalakrishnan

Vinash is a senior executive in the energy and infrastructure sector based in Singapore, with a particular focus on the development of commercial solar and wind projects. His project management and financial structuring experience will be invaluable for our project execution abilities going forward. He was appointed to our board of directors in December 2019.

Aishah Fauzi

Aishah is a lawyer by training who has decided to leave the corporate world to dedicate herself to permaculture farming in Bali as well as advising environmental charities and businesses. She was previously a corporate and M&A lawyer in the aviation sector. She agreed to join our advisory board in November 2020.

Onboarded a marketing team

We've also onboarded a new London-based volunteer branding & marketing team in 2020, comprised of Jane Maber and Maria Malaniia. Jane and Maria are working on establishing Solerico's brand positioning, ensuring the growth and reach of our vision and projects. Their work is going to be essential to the growth of Solerico through updated branding and new marketing initiatives.

Jane Maber

Jane is Head of Brand at the Stroke Association, which supports anyone affected by stroke to rebuild their lives. Jane has over 10 years’ experience across charities and academia and is passionate about branding from the inside out.

Maria Malaniia

Maria wanted to travel the world, so she earned a degree in Hospitality Management. She now creates memorable guest experiences in hotels and restaurants using empathy and her own restaurant experience. In her spare time, she helps hospitality students and graduates with starting their careers.
